Another Labor Day Weekend filled with meetings and good music is over. Of the association meetings that we were involved with, all went very well and I believe all owners attending had an enjoyable weekend. Carbonate Real Estate’s first annual summer event, “A 3 day Champagne Party and Charity Art Sale”, benefiting the Copper Mountain Chapel Foundation was a tremendous success! We appreciated everyone’s great spirit in donating mountain theme framed art, frame less art & art objects. Copper owners and visitors purchased some fantastic pieces to help raise over $4,400 for the Chapel Foundation. We look forward to holding this event again next year. We will accept donations, throughout the coming year, at our office and store them in the Copper Chapel’s attic.
The development in the village and on the mountain continues. In the village the last roof joists were installed on the Chapel hotel and that project is moving along quite well. They hope to have the building enclosed by winter and interior work will continue. The foundations for the two employee buildings at the resort entrance continue and connection of water and sewer have been completed. Many homeowner associations are completing work on their buildings as we move toward winter. According to the forecast temperatures are predicted to be at or below freezing Thursday night, so we are definitely headed for snow making conditions. On the mountain, the new Solitude project continues and we are told that the Tucker Mountain lift (which will be known as the Three Bears Lift) is moving along toward completion. These projects combined with others are making for a very busy fall at Copper Mountain.
Real estate sales continue to be quite strong under the million-dollar price range. There are approximately 34 listings at present and that number seems to be fairly constant. Several owners are expressing confidence in the future by acquiring additional properties. We share that enthusiasm and
look forward to a continuation of rising values. If you are thinking of selling now is an excellent time.
At the Metropolitan District the board is studying the State Legislature’s recently approved sales tax authorization for fire related expenditures. Currently, the property owners fund these costs and the possibility of visitors sharing this expense is very appealing. However, the gross amount of taxes and surcharges that resort guests pay is important in keeping Copper Mountain competitive with other resorts.
We thank you for your business and look forward to another excellent ski season.
Very truly yours,
