Dear Owner:

               

                Late October brought us great early season natural snow and lower temperatures ideal for snowmaking.  Thus, Copper was very successful making snow and having great conditions for opening day, which was Friday.  With all of the snow made on OreDeal, crews from Copper have added water making that surface ideal for technical training (Slalom and Giant Slalom).   It will be a great surface for recreational skiing later, although probably very solid and slippery.

 

                The village is full of ski racers from across the world.  It is great to see people walking with skis over their shoulder.

 

                Our analog television reception is gone, leaving only the HD delivery of television signals.  Disposal of old, analog televisions is going well with the Metropolitan District supplying free bins in the corner of the Beeler Lot.   If you do not have someone in your unit and come for the first time, you will need to scan your televisions to obtain all HD signals.   This is especially important for channels 14, 15, 16 and 17 that formerly were delivered in analog.  Housekeeping is scanning all sets when we perform inspections and pre-arrivals.

 

                We are experiencing very nice weather presently allowing for the roof installation of the Chapel Lot Hotel.   That is almost complete on the eastern exposure.   Numerous outdoor projects have been completed or are nearing completion throughout the resort.   Framing of the new buildings at the entrance to the village are on the second level and certainly taking shape.

 

                The real estate market continues to be quite strong.  Reports from around the county state that while volume is down slightly from last year values are up.   With the inventory as low as it is at Copper values are certainly up from prior years.

 

                At the Metropolitan District, the annual budget process is underway with a public hearing of the budget review scheduled to continue at the next meeting in November.   The preliminary assessed value received from Summit County shows a gross value of $89 million for our District,  an increase of about 23% from the prior year.   The Resort Chamber is hosting a board meeting to plan next summer’s marketing plan (including entertainment).  So, plans for next year are in process.

 

                 Everyone is looking forward to a strong ski season with this fantastic start.  We hope to see you at Copper soon.
