February 19 Owners Letter

Dear Owner:

Copper is experiencing some of the best conditions in years.  Snowfall has been plentiful and those who have skied report excellent conditions.

The same afternoon I communicated to you that the American Flyer lift was still not operating, it opened to the public.   Riders report that the lift is comfortable and impressive.  While some bugs are still being worked out it appears to be a big hit.

Getting ready for this spring, Summit County Commissioners adopted new Short Term Rental Regulations that become effective June 1.   The new regulations require all rental owners to have a permit in place by June 30.   The permit will be good through September 30, 2020.   Carbonate plans to file for these permits for our rental owners by the June 1 deadline.   You will be billed for the permits through your monthly statement.  The cost will be $150 for this first year.  Conditional use permits for units exceeding the occupancy limit will be assessed a $350 fee by Summit County.  Please note, we will be filing for permits ONLY for units that are in our rental program.  If you rent your unit on your own you will have to file for this individually.  For more information regarding the short term rental regulations go

There was an article featuring Dustin Lyman, the new President and General Manager of Copper Mountain Resort, in the Summit Daily.  To access go:  http://www.summitdaily.com/news/sports/new-copper-mountain-general-manager-ex-nfl-player-dustin-lyman-confident-in-leading-resorts-future/

The Chapel Lot hotel has not started yet.  We are told that the developer is waiting until the end of the current ski season to break ground.   This will be a limited service hotel (no restaurant) but will be a welcome addition to the village.   The development planned for the A-Lift must have the PUD modified prior to approval.  The County Commissioners meeting scheduled for this public hearing will be this later this spring.

As the end of the ski season approaches, late April through mid-June is the time to perform upgrades to your unit.  Please plan your projects for this time.

Sincerely,
Tom Malmgren
President
