With Homeowner’s Weekend right around the corner we are busy preparing for most of the annual meetings that will occur during the Labor Day Weekend. There is a lot going on at Copper this summer and everyone is in high gear to prepare for winter.
This past week we mailed out our new contracts with the 70/30 split. Thanks to many of you who have returned your signed contract. Please attend to this task if you have not sent your contract back to us. As a reminder, insurance is part of the contract. Make certain that you have insurance coverage in place for your interior contents and liability.
Upcoming soon will be a ballot initiative asking voters to approve a question allowing the Metropolitan District to stabilize revenues. With residential properties increasing in value many Districts are receiving less funds to operate with because of the way the Gallagher Amendment applies to values in Colorado. While a very complicated matter, we are encouraging owners to support this initiative. You will be receiving more information regarding this question. With the recently established Authority, joining our Fire Department with Lake Dillon Fire District, mostly all of the fire related Districts are placing this question before their voters to maintain funding of their responsibilities, especially with the increased wildfire occurrence that is happening throughout the state.
Many questions have been asked about what is happening just east of the Metropolitan District Complex. This is a new parking lot that will be utilized during winter months for those employees occupying the Edge Building. With the development of the affordable housing that is going to occur in the North Alpine Parking Lot, this replaces those parking spaces. An additional parking lot is being developed west of the Athletic Club and a new sidewalk is being constructed from the Athletic Club to the Center Village. We are told the lifts being replaced are on schedule and tower installation is scheduled to start mid-September.
Much momentum is occurring at Copper with new projects this summer.
