March was a very active month! Between record amounts of snowfall, avalanches and gas leaks we experienced high occupancies, typical of March. Our snow total reached 298 inches as of this morning. I’ve never seen the Sky Chutes all slide, as they did last month. We are all concerned about tree limbs, tree trunks and various debris inhibiting the flow of Ten Mile Creek. From Copper down the canyon toward Frisco numerous avalanches occurred bringing forest debris into the creek. Plans of dealing with this is underway.
As we approach implementation of the resolution by the Summit County Commissioners regarding short term rentals, we are taking steps to register all units that are in our short term rental management program. If you are a full-time rental management customer, we are doing this for your property. Enclosed is a summary page that requires your signature. On the meeting front, this Thursday is a Ten Mile Planning Commission meeting. The agenda includes a proposal to increase the density allowed at the A-Lift Neighborhood that has been discussed for several months. The agenda states, “A request to modify the Copper Mountain Sub-Basin plan as follows: 1) amend Goal F to include hotel/lodging and condos/townhomes, 2)amend Goal T to allow minor changes in the location of open space areas providing specific standards are met, and 3) modify the Land Use Map in the A-Lift vicinity that is contained within the Sub-Basin plan as it relates to Goals T and F, and other minor amendments to accomplish the foregoing”. Also, there is a proposal to allow three residential condominiums to be constructed, replacing two of the commercial spaces (totaling 2,600 sq. ft.) in Snowbridge Square. This is being brought forth by Harry Mosgrove, former president of CMI and part owner of the commercial space in Snowbridge Square.
