July 18 Owners Letter

Dear Owner:

The big news this past week was the e-mail that we all received advising that Gary Rodgers was resigning as the President and General Manager of Copper Mountain.   This was certainly a surprise to everyone, with no advance indication.    We are excited about the prospect of a new person taking over the corporation and look forward to working with that individual for the betterment of the village.

Copper Mountain is certainly busy with projects this summer.  The sidewalk from the Athletic Club to center village is underway, the Center Lot (just east of the Metropolitan District Building) has started, the storage building at the top of American Flyer is underway, and of course the replacement of American Eagle and American Flyer lifts continues.

The Resort Chamber is working with their contractors on the completion of the village lighting project that will include Ten Mile Drive, Copper Road from the Capel and Ten Mile Circle.  Completion of the lighting project this summer will finish the entire resort’s public roadways.

We are excited about all of the marketing efforts that are promoting the IKON PASS, which is a combination of the resorts (including Copper) assembled by the Alterra Corporation.   This entity, which started with the four Aspen ski mountains has grown with the acquisition or relationship including many resorts that will challenge Vail’s Epic Pass.  Competition is fierce between these two.

Those of you with individual water meters are urged to contact the Metropolitan District (Rob Martin, the public works director) to consider installation of new water meters that allow you to monitor usage at your location.  If you are part of a condominium building that water is metered with only one meter for the entire building, we urge you to communicate with your board to look at this installation.  While the up-front cost is the owners responsibility, the ability to monitor this valuable commodity is essential.

We have changed over all of our management splits to the promised 70/30 effective 7/7/18.   Regarding sending a new contract to you to reflect this change, we are waiting for attorney review.   We hope to have this very soon and we will be sending the new contract to you.

Summer at Copper Mountain is a great experience.  We hope to see you soon.

Sincerely,
Tom Malmgren
President
